Some places are love at first sight. Tulum is one of those places for me. Every time I head down there to photograph a destination intimate wedding I’m in awe of the simplicity of it’s beauty, the roar of the sea, and the warmth of the people.
Katie and Gio’s wedding was no exception. It was a beautiful cloudy day, the kind that starts off a whisper of grey and ends with the brightest of blue skies. The wind was soughing through the palm trees while the ocean stood choppy in the distance. We wandered through the palm tree labyrinth of Papaya Playa and eventually stumbled upon the private home they rented for their wedding day. Seriously, Papaya Playa Project is the best venue to have a wedding in Tulum. We were greeted by their loving families, jovial for what lies ahead, and so the day began…
