2018 was a wild ride. A huge thank you to everyone who connected with me to capture their love and to the vendors who recommended me as well as the ones I worked with on creative shoots. This year was a year of growth that tested my strength personally while pushing me creatively and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I’m forever grateful to be able to do this for a living- to be surrounded by so much love and joy and shown day after day that true love really does exist .
I’m looking forward to seeing what magic is in store for 2019.
Southern California Weddings
Amy and Dan at the awesome new venue Ruby Street in Highland Park. There are so many nooks and crannies for beautiful indoor and outdoor portraits here. I really dig their modern styled decor and furnishings. Perfect for both the couple who doesn’t want to do a lot of decor and those who want to go all out!
I was lucky to photograph some really beautiful and intimate elopements this year…
Guy and EJ in Malibu, California. They eloped with 15 witnesses at the church Guy grew up going to and we wandered the grounds for portraits after. I love this side of the church where the garden meets the Malibu canyons. The colors are so gorgeous!
Mary and Todd eloped in our neighborhood of Venice Beach! Originally they had planned on a Malibu beach elopement but mother nature had other ideas. Everything turned out perfectly and we ended our portrait session at sunset on the beach just a mile or so from where they live.
Cathy and Jason chose Ojai as their elopement location. The rented a private estate up in the hills and being their adventurous selves jumped into the pool fully clothed at the end. Such a badass way of starting off your marriage!
Randi and Logan eloped at the courthouse in Laguna Beach and then we headed to Crystal Cove for portraits at sunset.
Rebecca and Zach eloped on the beach in Malibu right in front of the Sunset Restaurant. Hot tip: this is a great option if you want quick access to cocktails after and don’t want to deal with getting a permit yourself or doing guerrilla style (my personal favorite way to elope)
Key’s View in Joshua Tree made the perfect backdrop for portraits after Victoria and Charlie’s elopement at cap rock. I mean, just check out that gorgeous sunset!
I loved traveling to the Catskills in New York for Camille and Adam’s destination wedding at the Full Moon Resort. The grounds are gorgeous with so many chic cabins and tents for all of their guests with a pool and a little river that runs through the property. Everything is so green and lush there- a very stark contrast to what I see photographing California Weddings. It’s also a few miles away from where I came face to face with a BEAR on that trip! Ahh!
In August I flew up to San Francisco for Allana and Hung’s traditional (and straight fancy) Chinese wedding…
I spent some time in wine country up in Sonoma at the Running Rabbit Ranch…
I’m so grateful to work in Malibu so often. Here are a few of my favorite engagements, weddings and elopements from my favorite Southern California beach town this year…
I’m Incredibly grateful to have closed out the season on the second to last day of December with a truly amazing and totally quirky (my kind of people) wedding in Santa Barbara. Their love was infectious.
