Camille and Adam had a beautiful intimate wedding at Full Moon Resort deep in the forest of the Catskills of New York. It was at the end of summer so the grounds were a deep lush green and the area was alive with creatures and bears. Yes, bears. Did you know that the Catskills is home to over 2000 black bears? No, neither did I until I saw one on a hike a few days later… but I digress.
One of my favorite moments of their wedding might surprise you. It was a moment Camille was getting ready. She was sitting by the window in a beautiful old house that overlooked the mountain and light was peeking through the drapes. She sat reading a letter from her grandmother who had recently passed. You see, she had written the letter to Camille specifically to be read on her wedding day knowing she wouldn’t be there. My heart.
Full Moon Resort is the perfect place to host an intimate wedding because there are gorgeous cabins and quaint homes for you and your guests to stay in as well as a bubbling river and secret swimming holes nearby. The property is large but still feels small and intimate should you want to elope there as well.
An area that’s a perfect escape for those who live in Manhattan or Brooklyn but also a great place for a destination intimate wedding or elopement. I was surprised to discover some really amazing restaurants too that would be lovely for a family style dinner or a day after celebration. It seems like it’s a hotspot for ex New York City chefs to retire or just head out to the country for their second restaurant. In the summer it’s common to see farm stands on the side of the road selling tomatoes and squash and other delicious vegetables. It’s also close to Woodstock, New York if you feel like exploring an area with shops and more restaurants.
