Every few months, I get an email from a couple who’s been married for five years, or twenty-five, and wants to mark it by saying their vows again — maybe in the way they always imagined, somewhere beautiful and surrounded by nature.
Sometimes they got married at a courthouse and always meant to come back for the photographs they never had. Sometimes the wedding they wanted just wasn’t possible at the time. And sometimes an anniversary is simply a really good excuse to come to Maui, slow down, and celebrate the life they’ve built together.
A vow renewal can be as simple as an hour or two at sunrise or sunset, somewhere on the island that feels like you. You can exchange vows again, explore somewhere beautiful together, or just take the time to be present with each other and have this chapter of your life documented.

Sunrise vs Sunset on Maui
I photograph sessions almost exclusively at sunrise or sunset because the light completely changes the feeling of the images.
Sunrise is quieter, softer, calmer. The wind is usually lighter in the mornings across most of the island, the beaches are emptier, and everything feels slower and more intimate.
Sunset is warmer, richer, more cinematic. The light deepens as the sun drops, especially along the cliffs and western coastline, and the entire island starts glowing.
And yes — Haleakalā is incredible at both sunrise and sunset. Watching the light change above the clouds feels almost unreal. Sessions there are available with an additional travel fee.

My approach is intentionally slower and more grounded than traditional posing-heavy photography. I’ll guide you when you need it, but most of the session is simply creating space for you to actually experience the moment together instead of worrying about how you look.

Maui has completely different landscapes within a relatively small island: the volcanic terrain and huge views of Haleakalā, rocky cliffs and hidden coves along South Maui, lush greenery Upcountry, and quieter stretches of coastline away from the resort beaches. I’ll ask what you’re drawn to and how you want the experience to feel, then recommend locations based on the light, season, accessibility, and how much privacy you’re looking for. Once you’re booked, I’ll send you a personalized shortlist of locations that make sense for the two of you.

There’s no wrong answer. Sunrise is quieter and usually means fewer people around, while sunset gives us that warm golden light Maui is known for. It really comes down to the experience you want and if you’re an early morning lover.
Wear something that feels like you. Think coordinated, never matching — colors and textures that work together without looking overly styled. Most importantly, choose something you can move in and feel good in. I’m always happy to help with outfits once we choose your location.
