Santa Barbara Courthouse Wedding
Katie + Paul’s Santa Barbara courthouse wedding is one of my favorite days as an elopement photographer. Being based in California I photograph elopements all up and down the state and across the country and sometimes the world. No matter where the elopement is my ultimate goal is to help clients craft the most meaningful day for them. There are so many beautiful places to elope here we really aren’t limited to just Los Angeles when scouting locations. Katie and Paul were open and trusting when discussing all of my ideas for their elopement in Santa Barbara. After some researching and discussing we decided to end the day at Butterfly Beach with a champagne pop!
They had their heart set on having a beautiful Santa Barbara Courthouse wedding, which has multiple locations to host your elopement both indoors and outdoors. They chose the sunken gardens which are located outside in the garden area in the middle of the courthouse buildings.
Since The Four Seasons Biltmore is right across the street from Butterfly Beach it was easy to head over after we wrapped up exploring the hotel property. When I walked into the Biltmore to catch Katie getting ready her mama ran up to me and gave me a big ole hug and exclaimed, “I feel like I’m meeting a celebrity, it’s like I know you because of Instagram!!”. I pretty much thought that was the cutest thing ever because yeah she’s right she does know me! I’ve been so open and vulnerable on the ‘gram over the past few years so it was nice to hear she felt connected to me. We chatted, I observed, I documented, we laughed, they cried, I helped open multiple bottles of champagne. We piled into their rental car and sped our way through the streets of Santa Barbara to the Santa Barbara courthouse for their elopement. It was a blissfully gray day with very little people around town so it felt like we had the whole grounds to ourselves. After their elopement ceremony, Paul and Katie and I meandered around The Biltmore pausing for cocktails at the bar, exploring the pool, and finishing up at sunset on Butterfly Beach popping some Veuve champagne.
