Malibu Elopement at The Sunset Restaurant/ Los Angeles Elopement Photographer
Location: Malibu, California
Venue: The Sunset Restaurant
It was a perfect day in Malibu for an elopement; overcast skies gave way to eventual sunshine that made the ocean sparkling in the distance. Rebecca and Zach got married on a Monday morning surrounded by a small group of their nearest and dearest at The Sunset Restaurant in Malibu. The beach was quiet with barely anyone else visible but the dolphins seen in the distance. There is something so special about being invited to photograph an elopement. I feel especially honored when clients choose me because there is a profound intimacy that comes along with photographing them. Sometimes I’m one of only ten other people there. Other times I am the only other person there. One of my favorite aspects of photographing elopements in Malibu is the beautiful beach environment. We have plenty of time to roam around and have fun without the time constraints that often come along with more traditional weddings. We started their elopement on the beach in front of the restaurant in the early morning right after sunrise with our feet in the sand and views of dolphins the distance.
They kept their ceremony deeply personal but super fun with lots of laughs from their intimate guest list. After their First Kiss they spent some time in private just soaking in each other’s company before we roamed around for portraits. I’ve been photographing elopements in the Malibu area for a long time now so I’m very familiar with its nooks and crannies with the best available light. We took a walk along the beach just as the sun was peeking out behind the clouds. We frolicked around the dunes near Point Dume and explored other areas of the beach before heading back to The Sunset Restaurant so they could enjoy brunch with their guests. Such a beautiful day and so grateful to have been there with them.
