New England Mountain Elopement in Vermont at Sunrise
Oh hey, Vermont I see you with your lush landscape and quaint towns! There are some amazing locations for a New England mountain elopement in Vermont. While perhaps not as popular as locations I shoot on the West Coast I see that as a huge bonus for choosing an East Coast elopement. Why not get married at an off-the-beaten-path and lesser-known location especially when it looks this beautiful. Stowe, Vermont is a beautiful ski bum town (the fancy kind of ski bum, ya know) with TONS of super yummy restaurants and quaint (and luxurious) inns and hotels to choose from.
Then there are the mountains. OH, the glorious green mountains.
When I did some location scouting for this mountain elopement inspiration I couldn’t believe how little I found. I mean, how could you NOT want to elope on top of a mountain, especially in Stowe, Vermont when it looks like this? The Green Mountains are glorious, especially at sunrise. We met at the parking area at 4:30 am with a backpack and headlamps. We spent the first 30-40 minutes in the dark at a steady pace through the meadows and into the forest, not another soul in sight. I know I say this all of the time but the biggest benefit of sunrise besides the glorious light is that you’ll likely be alone surrounded only by nature for your elopement. We reached the top just as the sun was starting to rise and Joey and Steven hopped into their wedding outfits and off we went exploring and adventuring around the rocks. At one point there was this glorious fog that kept moving through the trees so naturally, we chased it hopping from one area to the next playing with the beautiful sunrise light. A lot of my clients don’t want to do huge treks for their mountain elopement so a large part of what I do is location scout for fairly easy hikes with epic and big payoffs. This one took about an hour to reach the summit and while we broke a sweat I would classify it as a pretty easy hike! Keep this on your radar if you’re considering an East Coast elopement!
